Smith Optics welcomes 23 year old Santa Barbara local Bobby Martinez to its surf team.

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 25 January, 2006 : - - After an incredible amateur career with numerous titles and championships to his name, Bobby qualified for the elite WCT in 2006. Bobby will join fellow Smith team riders CJ Hobgood and Pancho Sullivan on the CT in 06, in what will also be Pancho’s first campaign on the ASP World Championship Tour.

“I couldn’t be happier to be joining the Smith team” said Bobby. “I’ve got some great new sponsors, and I can’t wait to go to Australia and get the year started”. The first WCT event of 06, The Quiksilver Pro, runs from Feb 28 – Mar 12 on the Gold Coast of Australia.

“We feel Bobby is a very marketable athlete both in and out of the water” said Scott Pod Banuelos – Surf Promotions Manager for Smith Optics. “We’re all very happy that he’s joined the Smith family, especially at this very exciting time in his career”.
