UK Juniors return home after Surf Solutions North Shore Program

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 7 November, 2006 : - - “ 7 of Britain’s top junior surfers have just returned from a 2 week  coaching and experience trip to the North Shore. Ran by Surf  Solutions’ Joel Gray those lucky enough to be tested by the North  Shore breaks including Sunset, Haleiwa, Rocky point and Laniakea were  Billy Norways (O’Neil, Vans), Toby Donachie (Rip Curl, NKE6.0,  Lokbox), Tassy Swallow(O’Neil), Ben Howey (XO2, Odessa), Dane Hall  (Hurley), Kathleen Spears (Rip Curl), and Lyndon Wake (....Lost). 

The trip was a total success with plenty of early season North swell.  A quiver of boards was sought out from Jeff Bushman and John Carper  and the team surfed as many breaks as possible. “The idea was to use  this trip as a stepping stone. Hopefully these kids will be coming  here every year from now on and inspire more juniors to take the  flight.

For any aspiring young pro this is the place to be. It  teaches them about the the bigger picture, in terms of more powerful  waves but also about surfing ‘correctly’. Timing and technique are  everything. We surfed as many different breaks as possible, obviously  did a lot of technical video analysis but also did things like a  mornings community work with the North Shore Outdoor Circle.”  (Joel  Gray).
