VOLCOM STONE'S BLOWFISH SURF SERIES HITS BLACKS BEACH, SAN DIEGO

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 1 March, 2007 : - - The Blowfish Surf Series wrapped up its final event last weekend at Blacks Beach in San Diego. Now Blacks is a interesting place, from weird nude beach lurkers, to hang gliders, territorial lifeguards, perfect 4-6 foot surf, you never know what your going to run into down there.

Trust me, at the Blowfish we ran into every single one of them which made for an eventful day. Besides all the weird stuff going on the beach the competitors were more stoked then ever to tear up some fun surf. Here's how the finals unfolded.

The Girls kicked of the finals first with twenty minutes to get the job done. Tina Spadafora launched out into the lead at the begining with an impressive score and never looked back, keeping the momentum going as she slashed her way to victory.

She earned the win along with a Sector 9 skate deck, Vestal watch and Volcom backpack bursting out at the seams with tons of other goodies. Rounding out the final was Kristi Rife, Kelly Rolland, Hartley Taich, Marissa Shaw and Darlene Conolly.

The Groms from San Diego were killing it. They attacked the peaks of Blacks like they should have been in the Pro-Am final! It was an all out battle between all six Grom finalists, with everyone of them posting winning scores!

When the smoke cleared and heat sheets were finalized, Austin Rowe stood victorious winning an awesome electric guitar, Santa Cruz skate deck and heap of other prizes. Derek Disney, Taylor Clark, Dominic Dipetro, Luke Rife and Paul Quessenberry rounded out the final.

In the Juniors final there was a frenzy of shredding going on! Josh Hromin, Duran Barr and David Suhadolnik all came on strong early and battled it out between each other. However they didn't see the late charge of Nick Olsen as he swooped in and snagged the win out from underneath the other Juniors finalists.

Nick walked away with custom Volcom Stone trophy, H20 Audio Ipod housing, Zoo York skate deck and bag full of other prizes. Rounding out the final was Duran Barr, Josh Hromin, David Suhadolnik, Daniel Blaze and Ryan Burch.

The Pro-Am finalist was mix of dudes from up and down the coast. Austin Ware looked solid all day and continued his momentum into the final. He racked up a string of high scores, but it wouldn't be enough to defeat Blake Howard. Blake sat on a peak down the beach by himself and picked off all the waves he needed to take the victory.

He snatched up $500 cash for his efforts, and a ton of prizes! Austin Ware, Zach Plopper, Kahana Kalama, Daniel Jacobs and Dan Watcher rounded out the final.
