Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 12 March, 2007 : - - Today, the longboard is an entirely new tool for surfing. The modern longboard allows surfers to ride on all kinds of waves, and to combine style and remarkable artistic sense with radicalism. Today, professional longboarders aspire to the creation of a genuine international longboard tour, a goal that has led to the idea of developing major competitions in line with the expectations of top surfers around the globe.
An Event: The Oxbow Pro World Longboard Championship To answer these expectations, this World Longboard Championship anticipates being the first critical rendezvous for international longboarders in 2007. This major event will be the initial stage of a future World Longboard Tour that Oxbow is endeavouring to give new life to, in order to bring it up to the level of the WCT, the international shortboard championship.
A "Made in France" Brand: Oxbow On the strength of its long and focused involvement in the sport, its association with some of the greatest surfers in the world, and its 12 world championship contests at exotic spots like Haleiwa, Malibu, Saint Leu, Makaha, Jeffrey's Bay, Cabo San Lucas, and Raglan, Oxbow can justly claim to be the brand that has brought back the eminence of longboarding.
After creating the first longboard world championship in 1992 with Nat Young, this French brand takes it on again, with this event reinforcing the Oxbow image as an innovative and dependable brand. With this new project, Oxbow shows it supports longboarding and intends to play a prominent role in the creation of a bona fide longboard world tour.
A place: Anglet on the Basque Coast, France The cradle of European surfing, the Basque Coast offers a region rich in surf spots, perfect for hosting a world longboard championship. By refining its infrastructure year after year, Anglet answers to the practice of this sport on its four and a half kilometres of beaches. Its northern beaches offer the best as far as beach breaks on this coast, with three international famous beaches: les Cavaliers, la Barre and les Dunes, all ideal for organizing the World Longboard Professional Championship 2007.
Longboarding in the Limelight for Seven Days On one of the most technical and powerful waves of the Basque Coast, les Cavaliers, the best longboarders of the world will demonstrate their talent to spectators, led by Oxbow team riders Ben Skinner, Duane De Soto, Eduardo Bagé and Antoine Delpero (Oxbow's native to the spot and grand hope). On the program for this ASP event is the celebration of the ancient sport of longboarding and its brand new developments. Longboarding has never been so modern!

La nouvelle dimension du Longboard
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 12 March, 2007 : - - Le longboard, pratique mythique à l’origine des sports de glisse, permet d’évoluer sur tous les types de vagues avec un sens esthétique poussé. Savant mélange de style et de radicalité, sa pratique actuelle aspire à une reconnaissance et à la création d’un véritable tour mondial. Ce tour verra sa première étape avoir lieu à Anglet du 30 Avril au 6 mai 2007.
Un événement : l’OXBOW Pro World Longboard Championship. Ce championnat du monde sera le premier grand rendez-vous de longboard en 2007. Cet évènement majeur sera la première étape d’un futur circuit mondial de longboard qu’Oxbow fait renaître pour le porter au niveau du WCT, circuit
professionnel de shortboard.
Une marque made in France aux racines Longboard Forte de sa longue et étroite implication dans la discipline, aux côtés des plus grands surfeurs et après avoir crée les premiers championnats du monde en 1992 avec Nat Young, Oxbow est fière d’avoir donné ses lettres de noblesses au longboard. Un lieu : Anglet, Côte Basque, France Berceau du surf en Europe, la Côte Basque offre une diversité de spots permettant d’accueillir un championnat du monde de longboard. Avec ses 4,5 km de plages, ANGLET a su répondre au cours des années aux attentes de la pratique du surf en adaptant ses infrastructures.
Ses plages nord offrent les meilleurs beach break de la côte avec trois plages de renommée internationale dans le milieu du shortboard: Les Cavaliers, La Barre et Les Dunes. Elles offrent donc un terrain de jeux idéal pour les nouvelles tendances radicales du longboard.
Pendant 7 jours : le Longboard fait son show. Sur l’une des vagues les plus technique et intense de la côte basque, les Cavaliers, les meilleurs longboardeurs du monde, emmenés par les surfeurs Oxbow Ben Skinner, Duane de Soto, Eduardo Bagé et le local de l’étape Antoine Delpero, vous feront la démonstration de leur talent. Au programme de cet évènement ASP, la célébration de la pratique ancienne du longboard et de ses nouvelles tendances. Le longboard n’a jamais été aussi moderne.
