New application available to help surfers choose the right board
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 20 March, 2007 : - - The question “which board is right for me?” can most of the time be a difficult question to answer. Of course you have differences in the opinions of the local surf shops and then there is the overwhelming choice of buying your next surfboard online.
Realizing these issues and also running into the problems themselves, two local surfers from New Jersey have developed a web based application and are exhibiting their work that will cater to the surfing industry as a promotional and educational tool.
The application’s algorithm will evaluate a user’s body type, experience, and surfing condition to deliver a recommendation of several classifications of surfboards available to the user based on over 50 years of modern surfboard knowledge. This in return will ease the problem potential buyers are currently facing when buying a new board.

Currently a demo version is exhibited on the web at db-surfaces.com/selector.htm. Understanding the needs of board manufacturers and surfing retailers, the application was designed to accommodate different types of surfboard stock and classifications. The application is designed to give each business entity the flexibility to uniquely fine tune it towards personal understanding.
The application, referred to as Board Selector, evaluates and outputs select models to compliment the surfer’s needs and specifications. It is the intention that the board selector will match the surfer to the surfboard that is right for them, creating a synergy between seller and buyer.
