Top International Surfers to Descend on Manly Beach for Launch of ANON Sunglasses in Australia
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 15 October, 2007 : - - Sydney – ANON’s global team of surfers are set to descend on one of Australia’s most famous beaches come October 25th for Fade to Black, the Australian launch of ANON sunglasses. Internationally renowned surfers Damien Hobgood, Benji Weatherly, Dion Agius, Reef McIntosh and Betet Merta will take part in Australia’s first tow-at surf session on Manly Beach.
“I have been riding for ANON for over a year now, and to help spread the love down in Australia is pretty exciting for me,” says surfer Dion Agius from Currumbin, Australia. “The sunset event that’s going down at Manly is going to be crazy.
The beach usually draws all sorts of crowds, and Damien, Benji, Reef and Betet will be going mad I’m sure. I can’t wait to get down there and get whipped into a couple. Hopefully, we’ll put on a good show for everyone who comes down to check out the action.”
Jet-skis will be used to tow the surfers during the session, which kicks off at 4.30pm and continues past dusk. With the ANON team set to perform aerial maneuvers under the illumination of temporary lights brought in especially for the event, Fade to Black provides an opportunity to secure shots of some of the world’s best surfers in rare conditions.
An exclusive invite-only ANON launch party will follow at Shore Club, one of Sydney’s most outstanding new venues. Internationally renowned producer Katalyst will be behind the decks supported by local artists, Malakai and Callahan.
ANON launched its first sunglass line in Southern California in 2005 after leaving its mark on the snowboard industry with its progressive goggle collection. The ANON sunglass line has grown from seven styles at its initial launch to 13 styles, with the unveiling of three new styles at the launch, available at retail from November.
The Luce, Amos and Escobar are top picks of ANON’s team as well as trendsetters in the fashion and entertainment industry. Available at premium boardsports retailers throughout North America and Europe, ANON will now be available down under in Australia. Special thanks go out to Waves Magazine, Smirnoff and Redback for supporting Fade to Black.
