SACRED launches surf fashion line by Jennifer Gagen

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 23 March, 2009 : - - Kailua HI --SACRED an island inspired surf apparel and accessories company, introduces a new collection of men's & women's clothing and accessories by artist/designer Jennifer Gagen. SACRED, where art meets fashion, is a grassroots company that offers a fresh alternative to the corporate world of surf fashion.

The vibrant yet functional line showcases founder Jen Gagen’s original artwork on each piece of clothing from bikinis and hats to an organic tee, each fueled by her love of the outdoors. SACRED was developed by founder and artist Jen Gagen’s endless quest for surf and adventure. The initial inception of SACRED sprouted on the North Shore of Oahu, just down the coast from where Jen now lives.

Organic and ocean-minded, her artwork is inspired by her innate love of nature. Jen has created a line of clothing that is functional and built for surfers, but also vibrant and reflects her passion for surfing and the movement found in nature. The Summer 2009 collection introduces new styles that all boast Jen’s original artwork.

The women’s line consists of tees and tanks ranging from $40 to $64 retail, and bikinis and sundresses from $100, all designed for an active lifestyle. The men’s line is comprised of super soft tee’s and surf-inspired hoodies from $36 to $46 retail. SACRED’s Organic “Pipeline” collection includes an organic tee for men that retails for $48, and an Organic tank top for women, which retails for $36, of which 1% of the proceeds go directly to the Surfrider Foundation.

SACRED’s accessory line includes the ever-functional surf bag, $125, the perfect carry-all to store all your surf and beach gear. The line’s signature piece is the popular Kine Kine hat offered in both men’s and women’s styles in a variety of colors. With an eco-friendly tee already incorporated, the line is planning on developing even more eco-friendly tees as it grows.

“I find happiness in motion; whether I’m surfing, skiing, shooting pictures or simply drawing hats at Lanikai Beach, and I feel extremely fortunate to be pursuing all my passions at home in Kailua – Oahu, HI, “ states Founder Jen Gagen.

Jennifer Gagen's personal inspiration for her art for her clothing line comes directly from a passion for not only surfing but also growing up skiing. She is especially excited about introducing her bikinis in her swimwear line that not only are colorful and have soul, but are highly functional for the surfer girl.

"Nothing is worse than spending days finding a bikini that fits, only to find it falls off or h urts your neck while you are surfing," Gagen adds. Most importantly, Jen wants the collection to speak to everyone who lives for the ocean and the outdoors, and to really bring original artwork into surf fashion.

Erik Dalton, Gagen's partner, and owner of Jagged Edge Mountain Gear, an outdoor retail store in Telluride, Colorado, believes SACRED’s focus on creating fashionable yet highly functional surf clothing that expresses surfers passion for the ocean will be the key to their clothing line's success.

Dalton says, "I am most excited about delivering product that people will love, and building a brand that people feel they can have a connection with. So many of today's big surf brands are corporations, and SACRED is really taking a grassroots approach by giving people something they not only want but can relate to."
