Micah Lester wins A1Surf.com sponsored ‘Most Inspirational Surfer’ UK Pro Surf award

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 18 November, 2009 : - - Micah Lester, the Constantine-based surfer, has won this year’s UK Pro Surf Award for ‘Most Inspirational Surfer’, as sponsored by A1Surf.com. The awards were held on Sunday 15th November at the Fistral Blu Bar and saw hundreds of the UK’s top surfers and industry players come together to celebrate another hugely successful season for the UK Pro Surf Tour.

Earlier this year Micah won the Relentless Aerial Assault ‘Tow-At’ contest, held at the Relentless Boardmasters. However it wasn’t just his surfing that helped the judges chose him as the award winner.  David Somerville, from A1Surf.com, said: “We’re stoked that Micah won the award for ‘Most Inspirational Surfer’ this year.

“He is a really deserving winner as he is both a great competitor in the water, but also is doing a lot for the sport of surfing out of the water too. “One project Micah is involved with is the Ground Swell surf foundation, which we are media partners for, where he has been encouraging young British surfers with coaching sessions.”

Speaking to A1Surf.com, Micah said: “I’ve been trying to give back to the sport by coaching the kids, setting up the ‘MVP: You Decide’ video contest and filming the UK Pro Surf Tour.  “It’s really good to know people and companies like A1Surf and the UKPST are taking notice and reward people who are giving back, so a big thanks to them for helping us push the sport.”

Other winners on the night included Alan Stokes, winning KingofWatersports.com’s ‘King of Waves’ award and Gwen Spurlock, winning Rip Curl’s ‘Most Inspirational Female’ award. The full list of winners from the UK Pro Surf Awards is available on A1Surf.com.
