5th Annual Hope from Helen Surf Silent Auction

Hope from Helen Surf Silent Auction to benefit local & global charities

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 20 November, 2009 : - - On Friday, December 4th, 2009, join the local community for an amazing night of fun, food, music, and friends - all to support charity. The 5th Annual Hope from Helen Surf Silent Auction will take place from 6:30-9:30pm at the Blockade Runner Beach Resort in Wrightsville Beach and is sponsored by WBLivesurf.com and the Board Retailers Association. Admission is free.

We are currently looking for auction items including autographed surfboards, art, framed photographs, jewelry, vacation packages, skateboards, snowboards, shoes, bicycles, spa packages, shopping sprees, and anything else you can spare to give to this great fundraising event. In addition, we are also asking for raffle prizes to give away throughout the night. Tower 7 Restaurant will provide food for the event and live musical guests for the event will be announced soon.

Hope from Helen (HFH) is a 501(c)3, non-profit charity that supports local and global charities dedicated to health, education, the environment, animal welfare, and individuals and families in need. HFH was started in 2005 in honor of Helen Butler, who fought a courageous battle against lung and breast cancer.  Helen was the mother of Sweetwater Surf Shop managing partner and WBLivesurf.com owner, Tony Butler.

In the last few years, the Hope from Helen Surf Silent Auction and other events raised over $145,000 to benefit great causes such as the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), American Cancer Society, PAWS Place, New Hanover Humane Society,  Surf Aid, Life Rolls On, Buddy Pelletier Surfing Foundation, Surfers Healing, Sea Biscuit Wildlife Shelter, The North Carolina Land Trust, The Martin Fucci Fund, The ALS Foundation, The Sunburst Foundation, Southport Oak Island Animal Rescue, Surfrider Foundation, Wrightsville Beach Sea Turtle Project, Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Hosptial, The Pink Ribbon Project, The Lower Cape Fear Hospice, and the Bantul Kindergarten Project. In addition, the memorial fund provided support for local families with serious and terminal illnesses, beautification of Downtown Wrightsville Beach, financial support to  former WCT Surfer Dean Randazzo's battle with cancer, a reverse raffle to help benefit The Lift Up Ellie Fund, and a campaign to curb cigarette litter on Wrightsville Beach.

Anyone interested in donating items for the auction may send them to: Melissa Clary, 1638 Military Cutoff Road, Wilmington, NC  28403.  All donations are tax deductible.
