Huge surf forecast for Vans Triple Crown Wednesday
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 24 November, 2009 : - - North Shore, Oahu -- Surfline.com, official forecaster of the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing presented by Rockstar Energy Drink, has forecast 20- to 30-foot waves here tomorrow morning.
Organizers of the O'Neill World Cup of Surfing - the second jewel of the $1,000,000 Vans Triple Crown of Surfing, will be at Sunset Beach at dawn to assess the surf. There is a chance that waves may be too large, possibly closing out and washing through the famed Sunset Beach surf venue. Check triplecrownofsurfing.com in the morning to see the rising swell and find out if competition is on.
Huge waves are not uncommon at this time of year and are the energy and lifeblood of this small country town that presently brims with the world's best surfers. High swell alerts are taken seriously here, particularly by owners of beachfront properties and the world's best big wave riders. It's not unusual to see waves wash across Kamehameha Highway which runs parallel and in close proximity to the shoreline.
A satellite feed of huge surf footage will be available tomorrow. It will include highlights of the day's opening O'Neill World Cup of Surfing competition if the event gets underway. Photos will also be available.
