Surfing Heritage Foundation Expands with New Gallery at South Coast Plaza West
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 1 December, 2009 : - - In an effort to inform more people about surf history, culture and art, the Surfing Heritage Foundation has expanded beyond its main center in San Clemente to open a satellite location at South Coast Plaza West in Costa Mesa, California.
The new Gallery features timeless artwork, classic photographs, collectable museum quality surfboards, official Surfing Heritage merchandise and other unique items.
The Surfing Heritage Gallery is in one of Southern California’s premiere shopping destinations and houses its own museum within the Gallery. Currently, a special exhibit, “Surfing in the Seventies”, curated by Britt Tobia, a local surfer/designer and artist, features surf boards, trunks, shirts, artwork and more from the era.

Founded in 2001, the Surfing Heritage Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserve, present, and promote surfing’s heritage for the appreciation and education of current and future generations. Surfing Heritage accomplishes this through; Preservation-Archiving significant surfboards, photography, oral history, publishing, art, life-style, film, and objects of cultural value;
Presentation: creating a world-class museum/resource facility, research library, traveling exhibits, and website content; Promotion: providing one of a kind experiences with the legends of surf culture, through films, exhibits, music, and special events.
