Wet Zone manufacturing facility burned down last week

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 8 February, 2010 : - - ‘The Wet Zone’ T/A Hurricane Surf has successfully concluded a deal to purchase the distribution and manufacturing facility of Island Style in Durban. Warren Wareing is still the 100% owner of the ISLAND STYLE trademarks.

This comes in the wake of a devastating fire which burnt down the Wet Zone manufacturing facility exactly a week ago. Included in the deal is a licence for the Wet Zone to manufacture and distribute Island Style surfing necessities. The S.A. surf industry has become accustomed to the rivalry between the two major South African surf brands.

A new state of the art manufacturing facility for the Wet Zone and a new International Head Office for Hurricane Surf and Island Style will be erected over the burnt down ruins of 38 Morrison Street, Durban. In the interim, the Wet Zone factory has already started to manufacture and distribute Hurricane Surf and Island Style surf products from the existing Island Style premises on the 2nd Floor, No 3 Morrison Street, Durban.

The manufacturing plant will run 24 hours a day to make sure that commitments to customers of both Hurricane and Island Style are met.  Island Style founder Warren Wareing, who has spent many successful years steering the iconic Island Style surf brand locally and international, will now be focusing on product development and marketing the Island Style brand.

‘’I’m way stoked to join resources and share technology with the Hurricane Surf Team and feel confident in the new Teams ability to pull this task off successfully and this will enable us to take these 2 core surf brands to new levels.’’ The Directors of both companies view this positive move as a huge opportunity for growth for the two brands.
