NSSA Hawaii RVCA  Series Maui Contest Goes Off The Scale

Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 10 September, 2008 : - - The waves fired up the Maui crew this past weekend as the Maui competitors only, NSSA Hawaii RVCA series contest saw the best waves of summer blast through the Lahaina Harbor surf break.

Four to eight foot faces came through for some heavy right handers on the south shore break as the fierce competition brought out some bar level raising action.   Maui veteran surf and shaper Matt Kinoshita said, "The waves are as good as it gets. Not only good but some of the biggest surf we have seen all summer long."

Imaikalani De Vault started up the show in his semifinal heat as he destroyed a set wave earning him a 10 point ride and followed it up with another almost perfect posting of 9.6 having to throw away a 9.0 ride he got early in the heat. Another standout, young gun slinger Ian Gentil won his division in the final ten seconds of the final by earning an 8.0 point ride to take the Open Boys. He also won the Explorer Boys division.

Tanner Hendrickson it was just another day of work as he scooped up Open and Explorer Men as well as the Explorer Juniors. Touted as one of Hawaii's top prospects, he is on everyone's watch list for the new NSSA Hawaii RVCA season.  Big Mahalo to papa John and aunty Donna for the ono grinds, Sean at Cold Stone Ice cream for the tasty treats, and Jay at Hi Performance Surf Shop for all the much needed refreshments.
