Scott Eastwood wins the 49th Deloitte Channel Islands Surfing Champs
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 19 September, 2008 : - - Realm team rider Scott Eastwood took out the open and senior mens divisions of the 49th Deloitte Channel Island Surfing Championships held in Jersey over the weekend.
In the senior men's final, near perfect 2 meter waves under sunny skies, saw Eastwood wow the large crowd with some huge turns and massive scores. He lead the final from the start outpointing current European Masters champion, Clayton Lidster and outclassing the remaining finalists.
The story was similar in the Open final although the earlier perfect conditions were savaged when the huge tide hit the seawall. It was Eastwood who handled the mad backwash the best edging out Ben Chapman and new age trickster, Minky Charlton.
In the Juniors, Quiksilver teamrider Matt Chapman produced an explosive display of on edge ripping to secure the win over aerial whizkid Alex Vibert, 'Fast' Eddie Seymour and the lone Guernseyman, Jacob 'he's a donkey but we shouldn't hold that against him' Warr.
Finally, the longboard, ladies and masters titles were decided up the road at Secrets, Jersey's best loved spot. Whilst the crew on the seawall settled down to beer and bbq, out the back the surfers gorged themselves on flawless head high right handers.
The contest came to an end in traditional fashion back at the Watersplash later in the evening with Steve from Deloittes dishing out some beautiful trophies and the boys knocking back a few more well earned beers.
